What's open and closed on Memorial Day in Massachusetts

Memorial Day honors the sacrifice of military service members who died in duty. It falls on May 26 this year.
Volunteers will plant more than 37,000 American flags at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Boston Common in tribute to every fallen service member from Massachusetts since the Revolutionary War.
And while Boston doesn't hold a city-wide parade, neighboring Somerville holds one that will kick off at 11 a.m. in Davis Square on Sunday.
The day is also known as the unofficial start of summer. Along with the early season cookouts, Boston Calling will take over the Harvard Athletic complex in Allston, setting off summer concert season.
