6 things to do to celebrate Pride this weekend
It’s Pride month! For me, that means celebrating my lovely girlfriend, learning more about queer culture and history and depositing the $1 my friend and I send back and forth for Pride and Black History Month. I will also be going to fun queer events in the city. There are so many to check out this weekend, including the annual Pride parade and a night of dancing and drag queens.
Pride at The Gibson
Friday, June 13
The Gibson House Museum is celebrating Pride with a gallery talk about queer art. Artist Hannah Barrett plays with gender through their work. They created “Tales From the House of Gibson,” a series of six portraits imagining Gibson ancestors. The works were created in 2009 and will be on display with the family’s photographs and heirlooms. Museum staff will lead gallery talks about Barrett’s work in the context of the museum’s collection.

There will be parties on the Common and City Hall Plaza following the parade at noon. Former WBUR Makers Amanda Shea, DJ WhySham and Olivia Moon will emcee, DJ and perform throughout the day. This year’s theme is “Here to Stay” to show that the community won’t be silenced or erased.
