Massachusetts gas prices: Tracking costs at the pump
As the war the U.S. and Israel launched in Iran in February continues to cause major supply chain disruptions, gas prices at home have been climbing.
The average gas price nationwide surpassed $4 at the end of March for the first time since 2022.
In Massachusetts, average gas prices soared over $4 on April 27 and continue to rise. The average gallon of regular is now around $4.44, according to motor club AAA.
Massachusetts is the cheapest state to get gas in new England — even if only by mere pennies. The average cost of a gallon in Connecticut, Vermont and Maine are over $4.50. The cost in New Hampshire and Rhode Island are four pennies over the average price in the Bay State.
The last time prices topped over $4 a gallon was in 2022, as Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine.
