Where's The Bus? Your Smartphone Can Help
ResumeWe've all been there.
Where is the bus?
It's raining. It's dark.
Will it ever get here? Maybe I should just walk. But what if I start walking and the bus comes?
There's an app for that, now, too — many apps, in fact. Last week, the MBTA announced that all of its buses — serving 47 cities and towns — are now equipped with real-time GPS tracking. Software developers are using that data to write apps for your smartphone that can tell you exactly where your bus is and when it will arrive.
But how to choose from all the software out there? For some guidance, we turn to wbur.org reporter Andrew Phelps, who wrote about these apps for WBUR's news blog, Hubbub.
