We talk with the newly named president of Amherst College, Carolyn Martin, the college's first female president, about her new post and politics in higher education.

Martin served as the chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Madison during the national headline-grabbing public workers protests over collective bargaining rights. During that time, she also worked with Gov. Scott Walker on a plan to grant University of Wisconsin-Madison autonomy from the state's university system.

Martin was also a longtime professor and provost at Cornell University.
