Fashion Entrepreneur Ben Fischman

Today, we're launching an occasional series featuring revolutionaries in the world of business right here from Boston. And we'll start with a self-identified hometown boy.

Ben Fischman is CEO of the Boston-based e-commerce company Rue La La. Every day at 11:00 a.m. on its website, the company unleashes new bargains on premium brands. Those deals stay up for a mere 24 hours, and people love it.

Fischman helped launch Rue La La in 2008, and one year later it was acquired by another company for $350 million.

He also founded LIDS, the popular hats-only store that got its start at the Cambridgeside Galleria with one kiosk. There are now more than 350 stores.

Fischman likes to characterize himself as an accidental business hero — an average guy who just asked the right question at the right time.
