Lizz Winstead is the co-creator and former head writer of The Daily Show and a sharp-tongued political satirist. We talk with her about why satire is more important to the American political process than ever.

Winstead will be on the panel "Serious Satire" at the Boston Book Festival on Saturday.

She will also be performing her election year retrospective, "Bang The Dumb Slowly: The Long Road To The White House," at Johnny D's in Somerville on Sunday night.
