Valerie Plame: Spy Turned Novelist

Valerie Plame used to be a spy. Until 2003, when members of the Bush administration blew her cover as an undercover operative.

Now, she's writing fiction. About spies. The CIA. The intelligence business. And it is fiction, sort of. In her new thriller, the heroine is a sexy, blond, CIA spy named Vanessa Pierson — the same initials as the author. And like the author did, Vanessa Pierson is trying to prevent Iran from getting hold of nuclear weapons. She's tracking a rogue nuclear arms dealer in a tense man-hunt that shifts from Washington to Europe to the near east, while juggling a forbidden romance with a fellow ops officer.

Valerie Plame, former CIA case officer. Her new book is called, "Blowback",  a thriller that she co-wrote with Sarah Lovett.

Valerie Plame will be part of panel tonight at the Boston Book Festival called, "Writing Terror: an exploration of Fear."
