Market Basket CEOs Respond To Job Fair Safety Concerns

The CEOs for Market Basket have issued a statement addressing safety concerns just hours before a job fair for internal positions is set to begin in Andover.

Monday was the deadline the CEOs issued for protesting workers to return to the job without fear of penalty. The CEOs said those Market Basket workers who didn't return to work by Monday could see their positions filled.

The Market Basket job fair is just for internal candidates.

The CEOs are offering an email address for candidates to submit their resumes — they say associates expressed concerns for their safety if they were to attend the job fair.

Statement from the CEOs:

“We have heard from many associates who are interested in applying for internal positons [sic], but are concerned for their safety if they attend the scheduled Job Fair. In response to their concerns, we are making available an email address to which associates can apply. Any associate interested should send a copy of their resume to jobfair2014@demoulasmarketbasket.com.

We understand this statement will likely generate incoming email not appropriate for this purpose, but feel associates interested in opportunity should be given an opportunity without fear of intimidation and harassment.”
