The Art Of Making Gelato At Home
ResumeThis week's record heat has us thinking about cool treats, like Italian ice cream.
We visited Morano Gelato in Chestnut Hill, where owner Morgan Morano explained that gelato is different from American ice cream: it has less cream and is served warmer.
"This is what contributes to the soft mouth feel. When you eat gelato, the flavors melt in your mouth more quickly, and therefore you perceive them quicker," Morano says. "Combined with the density of the product, many people perceive that it's richer and therefore worse for you, but actually Italian gelato is better for you."
