Dr. Laurie Glimcher, the incoming president of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, spoke to members of the Boston media for the first time Monday morning.

She was positive about the state of cancer research in 2016, to say the least.

"This is the most exciting time for cancer ever that I think we can all remember," said Dr. Glimcher. "I am just filled with optimism for the future of cancer. The excitement around the country, around the world, is really palpable now."
