Six days after a terrorist attack left 50 people dead, New Zealand is banning military-style guns. The ban takes effect almost immediately. It covers high-capacity magazines and devices like bump stocks that make semiautomatic guns perform like machine guns.

Jenny Shipley once led the National Party and was New Zealand's prime minister from 1997 to 1999 and was in Boston this week. We spoke with her in studio about the tragedy, the gun reforms and women in leadership.

Guest

Jenny Shipley, former prime minister of New Zealand. She's was in Boston mentoring women leaders for a women's leadership group called Vital Voices.

This segment aired on March 21, 2019.
