For the first time, the Boston Calling music festival will feature just dance on stage.

Boston Ballet will perform on Saturday and Sunday during the festival, and will debut a new piece entitled "White."

The work is by 21-year-old Boston Ballet artist and choreographer Sage Humphries, and is inspired by the rock music of The Beatles. The music was crafted by her brother Michael Humphries, of the band Future Self.

While this isn't the first time that ballet and popular music have mixed, Radio Boston spoke with Humphries about putting ballet center stage.

Guest

Sage Humphries, artist with the Boston Ballet and choreographer.

This segment aired on May 24, 2019.
