An update on migrants sent to Martha's Vineyard from Texas, two years later
Two years ago, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent a plane of 49 migrants from Texas to Martha's Vineyard. Most of the migrants were told that they would be landing in Boston, where they would find expedited work permits, free housing, jobs and legal aid. Gov. DeSantis said he orchestrated the flights because states like Massachusetts were “incentivizing illegal immigration,” and sought to put the commonwealth's immigration policies to the test.
In a recent investigation, the Boston Globe followed up with more than half of the members of the original migrant group.
Boston Globe reporters Mike Damiano and Esmy Jimenez join Radio Boston to talk about the latest.
