How a conference in the White Mountains created the World Bank

11:19

Last week, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank held their annual meetings in Washington D.C. There, they marked 80 years since their creation in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

The so-called Bretton Woods conference gathered more than 700 delegates from dozens of allied countries in the summer of 1944. What resulted were policies that led to the creation of the International Monetary Fund and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, now called World Bank.

Radio Boston learns more about the conference and the history of the hotel that birthed it.

This segment aired on October 31, 2024.
