04:38

David Delvalle is one of thousands of students graduating college this month.

The 32-year-old began studying through the Tufts University Prison Initiative nearly a decade ago while in prison after being convicted for armed assault with intent to murder.

This weekend, he will graduate with his bachelor's degree in civic studies and receive the presidential award for civic life.

Delvalle joins WBUR's Morning Edition to share what kept him going.

This segment aired on May 12, 2026.
