As of a dedication ceremony on Saturday, a Cambridge intersection is forever changed. The corner of Brookline and Green streets in Central Square has been renamed "Billy Ruane Square."

The Boston music scene icon and pioneer died in 2010, after decades as an irrepressible presence and generous supporter of a wide range of performers.

One of the organizers of the campaign to honor Ruane, Brian Coleman, joined WBUR's Weekend Edition host Sharon Brody to remember his friend.

This segment aired on December 1, 2018.
