Number Of Coronavirus Cases Jumps To 41 In Massachusetts

There are now 41 presumptive and confirmed cases of coronavirus in Massachusetts, The 13 newest cases were announced Monday afternoon by the state's Department of Public Health.

Of the Massachusetts cases, 32 are connected to a Biogen leadership conference held at the end of February. Out-of-state and international attendees of that meeting have also contracted the illness.

Four of the state's cases are believed to have been exposed while traveling overseas. The state's only case confirmed by the CDC, a man in Boston, had traveled to Wuhan, China. The other three had traveled to northern Italy, which is experiencing a significant outbreak.

It's not clear how the five others came into contact with the virus. As of Sunday, only one Massachusetts case had an unknown exposure.
