This year marks the 125th anniversary of the birth of Russian composer Thomas de Hartmann. De Hartmann was considered a prodigy in his time, and by his early 20s, one of his ballets was performed for the Tsar of Russia. But after his death in 1956, de Hartmann's work was largely forgotten.
Now, as part of a larger effort to revive the artist's work, pianist Elan Sicroff is releasing a new cd that includes performances of Thomas de Hartmann's music.
This segment aired on December 3, 2010.
