Notorious Cabrini Green Public Housing Complex Comes Down In Chicago
ResumeThe last residents moved out of Chicago's notorious Cabrini Green public housing projects this month. The city is planning to tear down the complex to build low-rise, mixed-income developments, following the national trend that started in the 1990s. But are residents better off in new housing?
We speak with Mary Johns, editor in chief of the Residents' Journal, a publication by and for low-income Chicagoans. We also hear from professor D. Bradford Hunt, an expert on public housing, who teaches at Roosevelt University in Chicago.
This segment aired on December 16, 2010.
