President Obama has joined his family in Hawaii after staying in Washington this week to push historic legislation through Congress. In a news conference yesterday, he called the lame duck Congress the most productive in a post-election season in decades, and the 111th Congress, which passed his health care and financial reform packages, the most productive in generations.

But will his political good fortune hold through the next Congress, when Republicans control the House? We speak with Dr. Allan Lichtman, who teaches political history at American University.

This segment aired on December 23, 2010.
