The troubled Texas singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt inspired a generation of other talented artists, including Willie Nelson and Guy Clark, but Steve Earle is the only one to pay tribute to Van Zandt by recording a CD of his hard-bitten and poignant songs.
Steve Earle's "Townes" won a Grammy this year and we rebroadcast a conversation we had with him in 2009.
