Yesterday would have been the late director Robert Altman's 86th birthday. Altman was acclaimed for directing "M*A*S*H," "Nashville," and "McCabe and Mrs. Miller," but his improvisational style had its critics and his career took a severe toll on his family life.

We revisit a conversation with author Mitchell Zuckoff, who put together the book "Robert Altman: The Oral Biography" from almost 200 interviews with Altman, his family and colleagues, including actors who thrived under his style and those who loathed it.

This segment aired on February 21, 2011. The audio for this segment is not available.
