Author Sue Miller Explores Ambivalent Feelings Following 9/11

We revisit a conversation with best-selling author Sue Miller. Her novel "The Lake Shore Limited" will be released in paperback tomorrow. The book centers around playwright Billy Gertz, whose lover, Gus, was on one of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center.

At the time, Billy was on the verge of breaking up with Gus, but the tragedy forces her into the role of bereft girlfriend. When Billy begins to express her mixed feelings through her writing, her work causes ructions with the people who have only seen her as another victim.
