Rep. Barney Frank Says He Won't Seek Re-election
ResumeMassachusetts Congressman Barney Frank, one of the nation's leading liberal voices, said Monday that he will not seek re-election next year.
Frank, who's served in the House of Representatives since 1980, was one of the first lawmakers to announce that he's homosexual. Last year he co-authored and helped pass the Dodd-Frank law to overhaul the U.S. financial system.
Massachusetts recently redrew its legislative districts, due to new census data. And the Boston Globe reports that the 71 year-old Congressman was worried about how he would fare in a new district.
