Imagine if Justin Timberlake and Radiohead's Thom Yorke got together and started making club music. It might sound something like the album "Mirrorwriting," by UK artist Jamie Woon.

"I've always been interested in the places where electronic and acoustic sounds meet," Woon told Here & Now's Robin Young.

The indie website Pitchfork says his album sits between "club culture, old-school soul and modern electronic R&B," and it has been released in the U.S. after success in the U.K.

Woon says his mother,  Celtic singer Mae McKenna, was one of his main influences, though their styles have little in common.

Guest:

  • Jamie Woon, British artist
