The Connecticut Senate race is getting nastier than a match-up between Jake "the Snake" Roberts and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

The Republican candidate, former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon, is facing Democratic Congressman Chris Murphy in a tight race for retiring Senator Joe Lieberman's seat.

Both candidates have unleashed a series of attack ads. McMahon is questioning Murphy's congressional record. She is also hammering him on revelations that he faced foreclosure in 2007 for missing mortgage payments and was sued for not paying his rent in 2003.

Meanwhile, it has also come out that McMahon and her husband filed for bankruptcy in the 1970s. She says she is now in the process of repaying some of the debts that were wiped out with that bankruptcy filing.

The Connecticut race is seen as pivotal to controlling the U.S. Senate.
