Ron Howard's racing film "Rush" opens nationwide this week. It's one of many films opening in the next few months that will vie for Oscar nominations.

As Boston Globe film critic Ty Burr tells Here & Now, "we are in the fall serious season as opposed to the summer silly season."

Burr previews several films, including a couple of off-the-radar picks he saw at the Toronto Film Festival.
