Facebook Draws Ire With Emotions Experiment
PlayA Facebook data scientist has apologized for conducting an experiment that is raising privacy issues. For one week in January 2012, Facebook manipulated some 700,000 users' news feeds and then tracked the number of positive and negative posts by users.
The results were published June 17 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Kara Swisher, co-executive editor at Re/code, tells Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson about the experiment and why it brings up the continuing privacy concerns of many of Facebook users.
