Sen. Jeff Flake: Obama's Actions Make Passing An Immigration Bill Harder

Republican Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona joined Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson to share his reaction to President Obama's executive actions on immigration.

Senator Flake said he wishes the president hadn't acted unilaterally, and believes Obama has "made the job of passing substantial, meaningful long-term reform far more difficult. When you do something this big and this important, acting unilaterally just isn’t the way to go."

Asked what he would say to Republican lawmakers who would support shutting down the government to fight the president's executive actions, Flake said: "Don’t take the bait. The political situation will not be turned around more quickly than to try and shut down the government.”
