The Growth Of Streaming TV
ResumeWith the growth of Netflix, Amazon Fire, Hulu and a multitude of other online streaming services, people are watching a lot less traditional broadcast television. But TV sets were the most popular tech purchase this Black Friday.
NPR’s TV critic Eric Deggans tells Here & Now’s Jeremy Hobson that’s because even though people don’t want to drop their money on 300 cable channels, they still want to watch their streaming service of choice on a screen nicer than an iPhone.
He says people are increasingly opting for streaming since they can watch exactly what they want, rather than paying more to have a dozen channels they want and a few hundred other channels they may not ever watch on top of that.
