Andris Nelsons Settles In At The Boston Symphony Orchestra

Maestro Andris Nelsons will be conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra in a series of concerts at Carnegie Hall this week.

The hall holds a certain significance for Nelsons. In 2011, his performance of Mahler's Ninth Symphony propelled him into the spotlight. It was considered a major triumph and started the calls for him to take over the post of musical director at BSO for the retiring James Levine.

In 2013, the BSO appointed him to the post. Since then, he and the BSO have released their first album. Here & Now's Robin Young caught up with Nelsons to find out how his tenure has been going.
