Looking Back At Another Dramatic Prison Escape

The manhunt for Richard Matt and David Sweat, who escaped from a high-security prison in northern New York on June 6, has intensified. Their escape got us thinking about some other dramatic prison breaks, such as a 1988 escape from the New Mexico state penitentiary near Santa Fe, New Mexico.

A helicopter landed in the prison yard, flying off with three prisoners. Richard Melzer, author and history professor at the University of New Mexico in Los Lunas, tells Here & Now's Robin Young, what happened.
