Ads Set Stage For Fight Over Financial Adviser Rules
ResumeIf you've been watching TV lately, you've probably seen a new ad campaign targeting new restrictions on brokers and financial advisers. The ads depict a small business owner and a couple dropping their daughter off at college, expressing concern that the Labor Department rules will interfere with the management of retirement accounts.
The ads are setting the stage for a political fight over the new fiduciary duties on brokers who must put their clients' well being ahead of their own personal gain. NPR's Marilyn Geewax discusses the ads and the Labor Department rules with Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson.
