Kentucky Elects Second Republican Governor In 44 Years

Voters in Kentucky elected Tea Party favorite Matt Bevin to the governorship yesterday, making him only the second Republican to win that position in 44 years.

A Louisville businessman and political outsider, Bevin succeeded in beating out Democrat Jack Conway, the sitting Attorney General, by nearly nine percentage points.

His victory notably comes coupled with several other statewide office Republican wins, which have been attributed, in part, to the unpopularity of President Obama and his healthcare reforms.
