As the 10th president of the Ford Foundation, Darren Walker is spelling out a new vision for the foundation, which is the second-largest private grant-maker in the U.S. The plan is called FordForward, and Walker blogged this weekend that it involves an organization-wide shift towards a focus on reducing inequality.

The Chronicle of Philanthropy reports that means a focus away from some areas such as LGBT rights in the U.S., microfinance, and religious dialogue.

As part of Here & Now's View From The Top series, Walker tells host Robin Young about the changes. He also notes that when he was a child in Texas, he was a member of the inaugural class of Head Start, a Ford Foundation-funded initiative.
