The American electorate right now is arguably divided between people who can't believe everyone isn't voting for Donald Trump, and people who can't believe anyone is. Here & Now's Robin Young heard from two New Hampshire women who are planning to vote for Trump.
“I believe our government is a business" said Sandra Riendeau, co-chair for the Trump Campaign in Coos County, New Hampshire. "Donald Trump is very much a business man, he knows how to negotiate, and he knows how to get things done. That is why I am voting for Donald.”
Riendeau also believes that Trump's brashness, which many have criticized him for, is one of his strong points.
“He gets the point across, he gets the conversation going and issues come out that need to be talked about. And I feel if it takes a little abruptness, so be it,” Riendeau said.
Paula Johnson, co-chair of the Women's Coalition of New Hampshire for Donald Trump and chair of the Nashua Trump campaign, said she is frustrated with candidates of the past and believes in many of Trump's ideals.
“We are tired of establishment candidates. We are tired of candidates being beholden to big time PAC money and special interests," said Johnson. "It’s about time that we get somebody who is a great thinker, has a vision for this country, wants to bring jobs back to this country, build a wall and make Mexico build the wall and pay for it. The people of this country are sick and tired of being sick and tired and we need this country to be great again, and Donald Trump is the only one who will make America great again.”
As to whether the vagueness of Trump's policy plans concerns her, Johnson said she sees it as a strategic move.
"I don't wanna use the pun, but why would Trump give his trump card so his opponents can see exactly what he's gonna do, because when you play poker, you don't show your hand."
