The city of Fairfield in central Alabama has fallen on hard economic times after their largest retailer, a Wal-Mart Supercenter, closed at the beginning of the year. It left many of its citizens jobless and looking to find goods and services elsewhere.

MacKenzie Bates of Alabama Public Radio traveled to Fairfield to find out how city leaders are trying to create more economic opportunities in a tough financial situation.
