Handball, the fast paced team sport where players run up and down the court trying to throw a ball past the goalie, is being played tonight at the Rio Olympics.

The sport is popular in Europe and South America. But the U.S. team has not participated since the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta, when it qualified as the host team.

Here & Now’s Robin Young speaks with Andres Espinosa, an avid handball player, about the sport, and how America can get back in the game.

Guest

Andres Espinosa, member of the Los Angeles Team Handball Club and USA Beach Handball.

This segment aired on August 17, 2016.
