On Thanksgiving Day 1976, the great American rock band known simply as The Band played what was billed as its farewell concert.

It happened at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, and was filmed by Martin Scorsese, who released the documentary "The Last Waltz" two years later. It has been hailed as one of the greatest concert films ever.

The music is being reissued in several editions this month. Here & Now's Peter O'Dowd talks with Bill Janovitz (@billjanovitz), a Band fan and member of the group Buffalo Tom, about the famous event in rock history.

This segment aired on November 24, 2016.
