On New Year's Eve, Scots Say 'Happy Hogmanay'

Colin Blane, the BBC's former Scotland correspondent, joins Here & Now's Lisa Mullins to explain why New Year's Eve in Scotland is a bigger celebration than Christmas.

Blane also describes how Scots observe "first footing" — the tradition that a tall, dark visitor bearing a gift is the first person to cross your threshold on New Year's Day.
