Before Donald Trump declared himself the law and order candidate, President Richard Nixon had staked out that ground. Nixon famously was forced to resign over the Watergate controversy, but a new book, "Richard Nixon: The Life," links Nixon to an effort to successfully scuttle President Lyndon Johnson's Vietnam peace talks while Nixon was a candidate.

Here & Now's Meghna Chakrabarti speaks with author John Farrell (@jaloysius) about the book, which takes a broad view of Nixon’s failures and accomplishments.

This segment aired on April 24, 2017.
