The first commercial facility that can extract carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and then sell it for reuse opened earlier this month in Switzerland. Some scientists see it as an innovative first step to combating the impacts of climate change. But critics say the technology uses too much energy and is too expensive.

Here & Now's Robin Young talks with Jane Zelikova (@j_zelikova), an ecologist who is also one of the founders of the group 500 Women Scientists.
