Death Of Rapper Prodigy Raises Questions About Sickle Cell Disease

Prodigy, half of the rap duo Mobb Deep, died Tuesday at a Las Vegas hospital. The rapper was hospitalized for complications of the debilitating blood disease sickle cell anemia. Born Albert Johnson, Prodigy was diagnosed with sickle cell as an infant.

His cause of death has not yet been confirmed, it's raised questions about the disease. Here & Now's Robin Young speaks with STAT's Sharon Begley (@sxbegle) about the latest advancements for treatment of sickle cell.
