Earlier this month, a Massachusetts paddleboarder was swept out to sea by heavier-than-expected winds. She used her Apple Watch to call 911 and was rescued by Swampscott, Massachusetts, Harbormaster William Waters.

Here & Now's Robin Young checks in with Waters, as well as Lauren Goode (@LaurenGoode), senior writer and tech expert with Wired, to talk about the 911 feature and the watch's other safety functions.

This segment aired on June 26, 2019.
