More than 23,000 women currently hold elective offices across the United States. And this election cycle, more than 200 women are running for office.

FiveThirtyEight's oral history project When Women Run catalogs the stories of 97 such women from all 50 states. Host Tonya Mosley speaks Amelia Thomson-DeVeaux (@ameliatd), a reporter on the project.

This segment aired on March 10, 2020.
