In Italy, there's more bad news but a glimmer of hope. The number of coronavirus deaths is nearing 14,000 while the rate of new infections is rising more slowly every day.

The term ‘plateauing' is being used — but authorities are desperate for citizens not to let down their guard. Reporter Anna Bensted has this postcard from the Tuscan town of Fiesole.
