Like many tribal nations, the two tribes that share the Wind River Reservation in central Wyoming have been hit hard by COVID-19.

More than 200 cases have been reported there, and seven tribal members have died after testing positive for the virus. But the tribes have also emerged as leaders in the state when it comes to combating the virus and supporting their communities through the fallout.

Wyoming Public Media's Savannah Maher (@savannah_maher) reports.

This segment aired on June 2, 2020.
