Italy Reopens After Months Of Lockdown03:48

Italy is one of the European countries hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic. It has 240,000 cases and more than 34,000 people have died, the fourth-highest total in the world.

But the number of cases and deaths each day has declined, and Italy is reopening. Flights in and out of Rome happened for the first time in months on Wednesday.

Host Lisa Mullins speaks with NPR's Sylvia Poggioli in Rome.

This segment aired on July 2, 2020.
