Christopher Dickey, a legendary foreign correspondent, died unexpectedly Thursday in Paris.
He was there working as the foreign editor for the Daily Beast, but he also worked for Newsweek. He was the son of a writer, James Dickey, a poet and novelist who wrote "Deliverance." He was also a great friend to Here & Now, appearing on the program many times.
Host Peter O'Dowd spoke with Dickey in July of 2015 about his book "Our Man In Charleston: Britain's Secret Agent In The Civil War South." Their conversation, as timely as it was then, remains relevant. We are revisiting it as a way to say goodbye to this journalist and writer.
This segment aired on July 17, 2020.
